ITP - Heritage Sectors Adaptability

Heritage Sector Adaptation
Heritage constitutes anything from the past which is valued enough today to protect for the people of tomorrow. Covered under the umbrella of “heritage sector” are museums, historic buildings, archives, archaeology, education, events, and conservation
In the 21st Century the Heritage sector has to work harder to keep people engaged in their offerings, whilst also bringing in new demographics to keep them going. Namely younger people 20-30 year olds. They do this by using social media and their websites.

Looking at websites such as The English Heritage Trust, Historic England and The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings. They clearly have links to all their social media, facebook, twitter and instagram. They also heavily advertise becoming a member of these organisations to encourage more involvement
They also all have really active social media, it seems that there is constant content being added to their pages. As young people have pretty short attentions spans constantly having new things for them to look at and engage with helps the heritage organisations to stay relevant and interesting.
